From Sidmouth you can travel through East Devon (an designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) dropping in to places like Branscombe, Seaton, Axmouth before taking the A3052 into Lyme Regis. From here head towards Charmouth beach and then to Bridport where you take the B3157 for the west dorset heritage coast.

West Bay will be a potential first stop before West Bexington and Chesil Beach. Follow to the end of the B3157 and you will arrive in Weymouth  (the harbour is pictured below) although you might decide to take a slight detour to the Isle of Portland. Both were extensively used for the Olympics in 2012, where all the sea events were hosted and Ben Ainslie won the last of his gold medals.
